Social Media Warfare and the Way of the Warrior

Social media is an important and often unavoidable aspect of our lives. 

Misinformation, disinformation, intentionally incendiary rhetoric, can result in violence and does great unmeasurable harm to society. The enemies of the free world weaponize social media to justify war, torture and murder. They use it to attack us all in the cognitive space. To degrade and demoralize supportive efforts. Criminal actors target and exploit our children, our families, and the elderly.

Unfortunately social media is closer to resembling a battlefield than a safe community. Parents.. take notes, you wouldn't send your kiddo to play in a mine field, would you? Pay attention to what your children do online. A few moments of quiet isn't worth exposing your kid to the type of filth that lurks in games and communities like Roblox. There is no filter, that keeps the bad people out of such spaces.

Hate generates clicks, clicks generate capital for the platform by selling information to advertisers and data brokers so until the platforms are given more incentive to at the very least, enforce their own rules.. something has to be done to bring attention to the problem, and counter it.

This is why we have created this website, and dedicated our time to countering abuse and foreign adversarial influence operations on social media. 

One way to counter such, is reporting Terms of Services violations. This is an area where the platforms could easily reduce the impact of such problems. But as many of us know, reporting abuse, disinformation or other harmful content on social media rarely brings about significant action by the platform... unless you have an Army in your corner. 

NAFO is one such Army, IT Army of Ukraine is another, and we try to follow their positive example. Tactical Strike Media is an international volunteer community made up of many including NAFO fellas and we are proud to have our own amazing little group of fellas putting in work to inspire vatnik frowns and #TangoDown Putin's clowns.

A large part of foreign adversarial activity on social media involves trolls. We have all heard about "Russian troll farms" .. such efforts would not be effective, without harassment, insults and endless other violations of social media platform terms of service. If nobody reports the violations, there is no action taken by the platform. Even when one person files a report, AI and automated review process make action unlikely. It takes an Army, to destroy a single troll account. It takes strategy, to counter and destroy an army of trolls.

It should not take an army, to deal with a harmful social media account. One report against content in violation of the rules, should result in action by the platform. Unfortunately, this is not the case and exactly why we are needed. This is why your help is needed. Join us!
